Malaysian Celebrities Go Green

Hello, Mother Nature!

Everyone has been talking about going green; yet saying would be insufficient when there are no effort contributed. Hence, this is when the co-founders of the Malaysian Go Green association, TV host & actor Baki Zainal and singer Azizi Zakaria stepped forward to support the project at the same time expanding MCG2 hoping that in time to come, every celebrity in Malaysia will think "Green".

Last Sunday, Leo Club of Penang City had organised the "Go Green-Starts from your home" Recycling Items Designing Competition which is an Environmental Awareness Campaign, alongside co-organised by Lions Club of New Century, Jabatan Perhilitan Pulau Pinang, MPPP and Queensbay Mall.

I find the certs pretty much interesting whereby they are done up nicely, decorated with recyclable items.

In line with the theme "Go Green, Starts from your home", the competition is about creating household items from recycled or used materials such as old newspapers or mags etc. There was also showcase exhibitions by the Jabatan Perhilitan Pulau Pinang. With the aim to give the opportunity for the younger generation t cultivate the habit of recycling rather than throwing, a total of 25 groups participated in order to lend a support to such a noble cause for mother nature.

Para hakim yang arif lagi bijaksana.

Oh well. As part of the event, Ernest and I both received a goodie bag each and the bags received are purely reproduction of recyclable items which I feel that its such a brilliant idea as a start. There were also 3 recycling bins placed around the corner in support by the MPPP.

One of the team came up with a bin . . . a nicely decorated bin!
Tak sampai hati wanna throw rubbish into it!

A fund raising corner were set up, selling coffee and lunch boxes which the earnings will be donated to the beneficial party, Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Cacat Yee Ran Jun Sheh Bukit Mertajam. Those kids were creative and one of the participants was as young as Year 2. She is daring as she spoke in front of the crowd, which I personally believe that not all Year 2 kids has the courage to do so.

Out of curiosity, I walked to the showcase exhibition by the Jabatan Perhiltan Pulau Pinang which many known as "barang rampasan" (confiscated items such as handbags, shoes, belts etc which are purely made of snake skin). Honestly, the skin itself was terryfying and it freaks me out which I wouldn't even wanna touch it what more putting it on! Wild cats and turtles were seen as well.

The reptile simply reminded me of the priceless picture I took in Cambodia!

In order to spice up the event, Azizi and Asyraf performed before the prize giving ceremony.
